2000 Athletes to Compete in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is gearing up to host the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship for its 10th season of 2024-2025. Organized by Al Roya Global Sports Management, the event will take place at the Carioca Arena from July 19 to 21, featuring over 2000 male and female athletes from around the world. This highlights the cultural and sporting cooperation between the UAE and Brazil and fosters the exchange of expertise between the two countries, particularly in the sports sector.

The 10th edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Rio de Janeiro further solidifies its position on the global sports stage as one of the most prominent events in the world of jiu-jitsu. It also serves as an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Brazil.

Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM, emphasized that the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship serves as a global platform for players from different parts of the world to connect, helping to forge new friendships that transcend geographical boundaries. He explained that the UAE’s efforts to promote the global growth of jiu-jitsu have played a pivotal role in spreading the sport to many world capitals, including Rio de Janeiro.

Al Bahri added, “Rio de Janeiro holds special significance in the world of combat sports, being a major global hub for jiu-jitsu and home to several of its most prestigious academies. Hosting the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Rio adds a new chapter to the city’s sports legacy and highlights its role as a premier destination for jiu-jitsu enthusiasts from all over the world.”

Representing the UAE in the championship are athletes Jassim Mubarak in the Masters category, and Zayed Al Shamsi, Saeed Al Kubaisi, Omar Al Suwaidi, Mohamed Al Suwaidi, Balqis Abdullah, Mariam Al Ali, Asmaa Al Hosni, Shamma Al Kalbani, Marwa Al Hosni, Haya Al Jehouri, and Bashayer Al Matrooshi in the Professionals category.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship is one of the foremost events on the global jiu-jitsu calendar, offering an ideal platform for UAE athletes to test their skills against some of the best players in the world. Over the past ten years, the championship has established itself as a premier destination for jiu-jitsu practitioners globally, and the strong turnout at each of its stages is a testament to its significance and value for top-tier champions and global contenders.
