In an electrifying conclusion to the Khatri Premier League (KPL) Season 1, Dhara Dabang edged past Dawar Gladiators by just one run in the final league match at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Karachi. The closely contested game kept fans on the edge of their seats till the very last ball.
Dhara Dabang Set a Modest Target
After winning the toss, Dhara Dabang chose to bat first but struggled to build momentum. They were bowled out for just 90 runs in 20 overs. Asad Shobi was the standout performer, scoring 27 off 32 balls, including three boundaries. Zubair contributed 19, while Fauzan CP added 12 runs.
Among the Dawar Gladiators’ bowlers, off-spinner Naeem Thatwi continued his impressive form, taking 3 wickets for just 7 runs, including two maiden overs. Owais Jamali and Sharyar Ghani chipped in with one wicket each, maintaining tight lines.
Dawar Gladiators Fall Short by a Run
In reply, Dawar Gladiators came agonizingly close but were bowled out for 89 runs in 15.4 overs, falling short by just one run. Zubair Haji led the chase with a quick 29 off 18 balls, including three fours and a six. Muhammad Shoaib added 14, while Usman Shah scored 10.
The game turned on its head in the final moments. Dawar needed just three runs with one wicket in hand, but a dramatic run-out sealed their fate and handed Dhara Dabang a memorable victory.
Bowling Heroes for Dhara Dabang
Off-spinner Akbar Ali was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 3 wickets for 13 runs. Bilal NG took 2-19, and Naeem Jobat contributed 2-26 in a disciplined bowling effort.
Post-Match Ceremony
The Man of the Match award went to Akbar Ali for his match-winning spell. He received a Rs.1000 cash prize and a Gojaba sweet gift hamper, presented by CEO SMS Javed Ali. Also present at the ceremony were Irfan Zahri, Chairman of the Tournament Committee; Imran Choori, owner of Bhada Tigers; along with Noman Zahri and Shariq Khatri.

The tournament now moves into the semi-final stage. The second semi-final will be played on Tuesday at 9:00 PM between Sonija Soldiers and Buchra Warriors.
