Pakistan Super League (PSL7) concluded on Sunday on a high note where the franchises made profits over 71% as per the chairman Ramiz Raja.
PSL is a brand of Pakistan and PCB is working hard to bring cricket back in Pakistan after the pandemic, PSL7 had all the matches played in Karachi and Lahore where the crowd responded positively by coming to the grounds and the last few games where the permission of 100% capacity was given, stadiums were full.
The vision of the PCB as they plan to introduce the concepts of home and away games, which means that in the coming next PSL8, we will have matches all over Pakistan and each franchise will have their home ground to play the games and also on the away format. This will give everyone a chance to witness their franchise in their own town, such as Quetta, Multan, Pindi, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar and when this will be implemented, the crowd will be packed out as they want to see their hero’s in their own grounds.
Many people can’t travel due to logistics but when they are able to see the match in their own home ground, this will excite the teams as well to get the local crowd support as we saw in the final between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars where the crowd was backing up Qalandars and that made a difference.
Ramiz Raja made it clear that no more teams will be added to the current PSL until the 10th edition and then there is an option to add a few more teams.
Since Ramiz has taken over the chairmanship, he has introduced many things and few are voices of people, meaning, he wants the crowd to be able to interact with the players and this will not able bring people closer but rather boost the game, as cricket is not a game for the crowd, it is more of worship!
