Islamabad United returned players outclass Peshawar Zalmi in Eliminator 1

Faheem in action

Islamabad United after starting the PSL7 in Karachi were too strong and won the matches but when they came to Lahore, their overseas players left, few had injuries problems, which meant in losing the games from 5 only won 1 in Lahore.

Eliminator 1 against Peshawar Zalmi is more like a do-die match as if any team loses, they will go home and the winner will have to play Lahore Qalandars who lost from Multan Sultans earlier.

As a unit when you start any tournament, you try your best combinations and when you get it right the winning momentum starts but when you lose the players due to more of reasons, reuniting the combination becomes difficult and Islamabad suffered this but in this game, they got the right players back as Alex Hales in top form.

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided bat first and they started off well but were not able to put the total they wanted to as they were only managed to get 169 and that was with support of the legend Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal both managed to get 50 plus.

Islamabad United bowling had not been to the mark they would have liked but at few bowlers were highlight such as Faheem Ashraf who bowled 3-15-1 and Hassan Ali 4-30-3.

In return, Islamabad started off well with Alex Hales smashed 62 off 49 with Shadab Khan 22 and Azam Khan 28 to get them over the line.

Some extra ordinary bowling from Salman Irshad where his yorkers were unable to get Asif Ali and Alex Hales out bowled.

The match was under the belt of Peshawar but Wahab Raiz overs were not the same which they were when he bowled the super over against Lahore Qalandars as the gave away 52 runs in 4 overs and that was the biggest difference for them no tot win the match.  There has been some drops etc but when you come to the end of the death overs this is where the senior bowler needs to lead from the front.

Islamabad United won the match by 5 wickets and they are now through to meet Lahore Qalandars who will be hungry to play to win and meet Multan Sultans on Sunday.
