Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir arrives in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met Gen. Asim; Congratulated Asim Munir on becoming Army Chief.

RIYADH: Pakistan’s army chief Gen. Asim Munir arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday on an official visit. He was welcomed by Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, who greeted Gen. Asim on becoming the new Army Chief of Pakistan’s armed forces.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), defence and military cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were discussed in the meeting. Early on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency also released an update regarding Gen Asim’s arrival to the Kingdom. General Asim met with Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Arabian Defense Minister, in Riyadh, according to a statement from SPA.

Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud shared a tweet: “Pleased to meet H.E General Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff. We emphasized the strategic partnership between our brotherly countries, reviewed the bilateral military and defence relations, and discussed ways of strengthening our cooperation”.

Under the deep historical relations between the Kingdom and Pakistan, ways to strengthen the defence and military ties between the two countries were examined. Issues of mutual interest, military-to-military cooperation and bilateral relations focusing on security-related subjects were also discussed on this occasion.

A number of Saudi and Pakistani military and civil authorities attended the meeting. On behalf of Saudi Arabia, Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Fayaz bin Hameed Al-Ruwaili, Assistant Minister of Defense Engineer Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and Director General of the Office were present in the meeting.

Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, and Military Attaché Major General Staff Pilot Awad bin Abdullah Al-Zahrani of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan, and on behalf of Pakistan, Amir Khurram Rathore, ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom, and Secretary of the Chief of Staff Major General Muhammad Irfan of Pakistan Army and Pakistani Military Attaché to Saudi Arabia Brigadier General Muhammad Asim were also present.
