Punjab Caretaker Sports Minister Wahab Riaz, busy in league cricket, will take oath on his return home.

Pakistani fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been given the post of Sports Minister in the caretaker cabinet of Punjab and he is busy playing in Bangladesh Premier League and will soon take the oath of office after returning from the league.

Wahab Riaz’s name is also included in Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s cabinet, but he is currently representing Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League and will take the oath of office on his return home.
Despite being nominated by the Sports Minister, the fast bowler is likely to participate in the Pakistan Super League and despite the Sports Minister’s responsibilities, he is likely to represent his franchise in the entire league.

Wahab Riaz will represent Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League and till last year he also led the franchise but for this year Zalmi has named Babar Azam as the captain of the team.

However, the Pakistan Super League’s most successful bowler with 103 wickets has been downgraded this year and moved from the platinum category to the diamond category.

The 37-year-old Wahab last represented Pakistan in 2020 and has the honour of taking 237 wickets in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20 International matches.
Wahab Riaz has been notified for appointment as Caretaker Sports Minister and he is likely to hold the charge till the elections in April.
