In a significant step toward strengthening cricket ties, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi met with Prince Saud bin Mishaal Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation, in Riyadh today. The meeting focused on promoting cricket in Saudi Arabia and fostering player development between the two nations.
During the meeting, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi extended an invitation to Prince Saud to visit Pakistan to witness the Champions Trophy matches, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia in enhancing its cricket infrastructure and talent pool.
Chairman Naqvi proposed initiating a players’ exchange program to aid cricket development, highlighting that emerging Saudi players could benefit from training and exposure in Pakistan. He also offered assistance in the construction of cricket stadiums in Saudi Arabia, ensuring that Pakistan would provide full cooperation to help Saudi Arabia become a competitive cricketing nation.
“Saudi Arabia is like a second home to every Pakistani. We are thrilled to collaborate and contribute to the development of cricket here,” remarked Naqvi.
Prince Saud bin Mishaal Al Saud welcomed the proposals and shared insights into Saudi Arabia’s growing cricketing landscape. “We are working diligently on player development and currently have around 18,000 cricket players in the country. Saudi Arabia has already made strides by winning the Asian Cricket Council Challenge Cup, and we are eager to work closely with Pakistan to promote cricket at a larger scale,” said Prince Saud.
This meeting marks an important milestone in fostering cricketing ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, paving the way for mutual growth in the sport across the region.
