In a thrilling encounter at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi secured a nail-biting 5-run victory over Multan Sultans in the 9th fixture of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine.

The match came down to the wire, with Sultans needing 6 runs off the last 2 balls. However, Zalmi’s Naveen-ul-Haq held his nerve, trapping Iftikhar Ahmed LBW on the penultimate delivery, and then dismissing Shahnawaz Dahani on the final ball to seal the win for his team.

Earlier, batting first, Zalmi got off to a shaky start, losing star opener Saim Ayub early. However, Haseebullah Khan and Dawid Malan steadied the innings with aggressive batting performances. Khan scored a brisk 37 off 18 balls, while Malan played a crucial knock of 52 off just 25 balls.

In response, Multan Sultans lost skipper Mohammad Rizwan early, but Yasir Khan and Dawid Malan kept their hopes alive with impressive performances. However, despite a late flourish from Usama Mir, Sultans fell short of the target, finishing at 174-7 in their allotted overs.

Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers for Zalmi, finishing with figures of 3-34 in his four overs. Luke Wood and Usama Mir also chipped in with crucial wickets.

With this victory, Peshawar Zalmi registers their first win of PSL 9, while Multan Sultans will be disappointed to have missed out on a chance to climb up the points table.
