Muhammad Nizam Karachi (Sports Reporter): Super Kings claimed their first victory in the AKG Premier League Season 2 with a five-wicket win over United Thunders in the final match of Round 3. The match, held at AKG Ground in Karachi, saw United Thunders bat first and score a modest total of 112 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
Captain Javed Mansoor top-scored for United Thunders, contributing 46 runs off 35 balls, including five boundaries. Despite his efforts, the team was dismissed within the 20 overs. Mohammad Isa was the standout bowler for Super Kings, taking 3 wickets for 21 runs. Imran Mehboob and Sabir Khan supported well, each picking up two wickets, while captain Saleem Abdul Rehman and Iliyan Murad claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Super Kings chased down the target of 113 runs in 17.5 overs for the loss of five wickets. Khurram Shehzad led the charge with a solid 39 runs off 32 balls, including five fours. Amin Akbar Ali remained unbeaten on 23 runs off 19 balls, while Saleem Aman contributed 19 runs and Sami Saleem Ladhya made a valuable 19 runs.
United Thunders’ left-arm spinner Raheem Suleman was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 16 runs, but it wasn’t enough to prevent his team’s defeat. Rahil Sayani and Aniq Sher Ali each took one wicket for United Thunders.
At the end of the match, AKG member Muneer Samani, the chief guest, awarded the Man of the Match title to Mohammad Isa for his exceptional bowling performance.
With this win, Super Kings now have 2 points, level with United Thunders, while Strom Warriors lead the points table with 6 points. Aziz Daman and Friends United are both on 4 points, and United Hurricanes remain without any points after Round 3.
