Two Thrilling Matches Decided in AKG Premier League Season 2 Cricket Tournament

Muhammad Nizam Karachi (Sports Reporter): The AKG Premier League Season 2 Cricket Tournament witnessed two exciting encounters yesterday at the AKG Ground in Karachi. Friends United triumphed over United Hurricanes by five wickets, while Storm Warriors claimed a comfortable five-wicket win over Aziz Damani, making it three consecutive victories for the Warriors.

In the first match, United Hurricanes batted first and posted a total of 133 runs, being all out in 17.4 overs. Skipper Saud Islam led the charge with a brilliant 60 off 48 balls, which included five boundaries and one six. Parvaiz Ali contributed with 32 off 24 balls, hitting three sixes, while Arsalan Haider added 17 runs from 21 balls. Javaid Baig was the star bowler for Friends United, claiming four wickets for just 25 runs in four overs, while Kamran Wali supported with two wickets for 21 runs.

In reply, Friends United chased down the target of 134 runs with five wickets to spare in 18.5 overs. Skipper Murtaza Majid played a steady knock of 34 off 30 balls, including two fours, while Sarfraz Khan remained unbeaten on 29* from 34 balls. Syed Ahsan Ullah made 21 off 24 balls with three boundaries, and Rohail Javaid added 17 runs from 12 balls, also hitting three fours. Saud Islam was the standout bowler for United Hurricanes, taking two wickets for 25 runs.

At the conclusion of the match, the Chief Guest, Adeel Virani of AKYSB Soudren, presented the Man of the Match award to Javaid Baig for his brilliant four-wicket haul.

In the second match, Aziz Damani batted first and posted a competitive total of 155 runs in 20 overs. Skipper Mir Afzal Baig top-scored with 39 off 31 balls, including four fours and one six. Irfan Rehmat contributed 34 off 24 balls, hitting five fours, while Naveed Ali added 33 off 24 balls, also with five boundaries. Mohammad Shoaib and Shayan Ali each took two wickets for Storm Warriors.

In response, Storm Warriors chased down the target of 158 runs in 18.5 overs, losing five wickets. Naseeb Noor Ali played a superb knock, remaining unbeaten on 88 off 56 balls, which included five boundaries and four sixes. Sannan Noor contributed 30 off 23 balls, with two fours and two sixes.

The Man of the Match award was presented to Naseeb Noor Ali by the Chief Guest, test cricketer Amir Maher Ali, for his outstanding performance with the bat.

These victories further solidified Storm Warriors’ dominance in the tournament, as they continued their perfect streak, winning all three matches in a row.
