AKCC made a successful start to the RCA season 2022-2023 by winning its opening match of the Tera System T20 tournament organized by the Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) by 6 wickets against Saad XI CC.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first Saad XI posted a healthy 227/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Sajid Khan scored 88 runs while Hazrat Hussain scored 62 runs, for AKCC Zahoor picked up 2 wickets on debut.
In response to Saad XI 227, AKCC openers Faisal and Idrees brightly and shared an opening stand of 94 runs in 8 overs. Idrees was the first batsman dismissed for 57(27) which brought Mohammad Aftab Gul to the wicket who along with Faisal kept the momentum of the innings and added another 48 runs for the 2 wickets.
Mohammad contributed with 35 off only 14 balls. Faisal was eventually dismissed for 60 (40) while Zaheer was run out for 23(10). Captain Sheraz Ahmed and Sabtain remained unbeaten for 30(13) and 17(8). AKCC achieved the target in 18.4 overs. Idrees was declared player of the match for his match-winning half-century.
AKCC will face United Kashmir XI in the next match on September 23, 2022.
