In the recently concluded World Cup edition, Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in an ICC event. Undoubtedly, it was a challenging moment for Pakistan, but Babar Azam’s resilience and kindness remained unwavering.

During a recent conversation with Momin Saqib, Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz shared that after the game, despite the heartbreaking loss, he asked Babar for his bat, and Babar didn’t refuse.

“I can’t forget that moment,” Gurbaz said. “We beat Pakistan, and then I asked for his bat. When he brought it, he was so disappointed, which I can understand as a player. I felt the pain of losing a game under so much pressure. And if I remember correctly, I got a little emotional. He is such a great player, one of the best captains,” he added.

Gurbaz also acknowledged that Babar Azam was so disappointed that he was almost in tears. The opener also extended his prayers for Babar’s happiness and success.

“I was trying not to say this in front of the camera, but yes, he was so disappointed that he was about to cry. I’ve never seen any player like that. Everyone was against him. But I salute Babar Bhai; he was so strong and just kept going. He never gave up and produced his best,” Gurbaz said.

“Actually, my younger brother is a big fan of Babar Bhai. So he asked me for the shirt and the bat. I requested Babar Bhai for the same, and he just gave it to me. He didn’t say no to me, and I can never forget that. I will pray for him and his success,” he concluded.

This highlights that, apart from being a maestro with the bat, Babar is equally kind and graceful off the field.
