The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, recognizing notable milestones achieved during the tournament.
In the Mumbai clash between India and New Zealand, Rod Tucker, who officiated in his first ODI in January 2009, will stand in his 100th ODI as an on-field umpire. Joining him will be Richard Illingworth of England. Illingworth, who was also on-field during the 2019 World Cup semi-final where New Zealand triumphed over India, will be supported by third umpire Joel Wilson, fourth umpire Adrian Holdstock, and match referee Andy Pycroft.
Richard Kettleborough, who reached his century of ODIs earlier in the competition, will oversee the second semi-final between Australia and South Africa in Kolkata. Nitin Menon will join him on the field, marking his first World Cup as an official. Chris Gaffaney will act as the third umpire, with Michael Gough as the fourth umpire, and Javagal Srinath as the match referee.
A significant milestone was also reached by Ahsan Raza, who officiated his 50th ODI during the match between England and the Netherlands on November 8.
ICC Manager of Umpires and Referees Sean Easey congratulated the match officials for their exemplary efforts, expressing confidence in their performance as they head into the crucial knockout stage.
