Pakistan Secures Semifinal Spot in ICC U19 World Cup with Thrilling Win Over Bangladesh.

TN Media News Pakistan: In a nail-biting encounter on Saturday, Pakistan emerged victorious against Bangladesh by five runs, securing their place in the semifinals of the 2024 ICC U19 World Cup. The Boys in Green, led by Saad Baig, showcased an outstanding performance, successfully defending a modest score of 155.

Seventeen-year-old Ubaid Shah was the star of the match, claiming a fifer, while Ali Raza contributed with three crucial wickets. Mohammad Zeeshan took the final wicket that sealed the fate of Bangladesh.

Pakistan, unbeaten in the tournament with five wins, had previously defeated Afghanistan, Nepal, New Zealand, Ireland, and now Bangladesh. The team’s stellar performance in the group and Super Six stages earned them a well-deserved spot in the final four, joining India, Australia, and South Africa.

In the crucial encounter, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Despite a solid start by Shahzaib Khan and Shamyl Hussain, the Tigers made a comeback in the middle overs, with Rohanat Doullah Borson and Sheikh Jibon dismantling the Pakistani top and middle order. Pakistan lost their sixth wicket at 89, struggling to complete their allotted overs.

Ubaid Shah’s impressive bowling performance, which included quick dismissals of key batsmen, brought Pakistan back into the game. Ali Raza also played a crucial role, ensuring Bangladesh faced constant pressure.

As the chase unfolded, Bangladesh faced setbacks but showed resilience, with Shihab and Rahman attempting to rebuild. However, the Pakistani bowlers, especially Ubaid and Raza, kept the pressure on.

The match reached a thrilling climax when Bangladesh needed only six runs with one wicket in hand. However, Mohammad Zeeshan’s decisive delivery ended Bangladesh’s hopes, securing a narrow five-run victory for Pakistan.

In the upcoming semifinals, Pakistan will face South Africa, while India is set to lock horns with Australia in what promises to be an intense battle for a spot in the ICC U19 World Cup final.
