A Patriotic Gathering in Riyadh:
The Pakistan Writers Club Saudi Arabia organized a grand ceremony to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day. The event brought together respected members of the community, poets, columnists, women, and children who participated with great enthusiasm.
The celebration began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Osama. This was followed by Muhammad Fawaz, who beautifully recited prayer poems for Pakistan, earning much appreciation from the audience. Umar Imtiaz also shared heartfelt sentiments about the country, while Ms. Yasmin Zaheer energized the hall with a national song.
Chief Guest and Speeches
The Welfare Attaché of the Pakistan Embassy, Mr. Najam Saqib, graced the event as the chief guest. In their speeches, participants highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s Independence Day. They noted that August 14 not only reminds us of our independence, but also revives the spirit of unity, love, and sacrifice for our homeland.
Poetic Expressions of Patriotism
The second part of the program featured renowned poets including Rashid Mahmood, Manzar Hamdani, Sabir Amani, Asad Kamal, Shahid Khyalvi, Usman Munawar, Faisal Gilani, and Saleem Kawish. Their soulful poetry resonated deeply with the audience, who warmly appreciated their performances.
Interactive Sessions and Cultural Activities
To further engage the community, a special question-and-answer session on Pakistan’s history was conducted for both children and adults. Prizes were distributed to those who answered correctly. Adding to the patriotic spirit, Owais Mustafa sang a national song in his melodious voice.
Certificates of appreciation were later presented to poets and distinguished guests. Notably, Shaheen Javed, founding member of the Ladies Chapter, was honored for her outstanding contributions to the club and her role as media in-charge.
Closing Moments of Celebration
The event concluded with the cutting of a beautifully decorated Independence Day cake. Club President Naveed-ur-Rehman extended his gratitude to Vice President Bhatti Sahib, Yousuf Ali Yousuf, Tasneem Amjad, Shaheen Javed, Muhammad Fawaz, and Dr. Taazim Hussain for their support in organizing the event.
The ceremony ended on a high note, as participants congratulated each other and offered special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
