Sarfaraz Ahmed believes that Pakistan is well-prepared to face Australia in a three-match Test series beginning on December 14. The Pakistani team commenced their World Test Championship campaign with success against Sri Lanka earlier this year.
Acknowledging the challenge posed by Australia, who emerged victorious in the previous WTC cycle by defeating India in the final, Ahmed expressed confidence in his team’s capabilities. The wicket-keeper batsman praised the Australian team as a formidable force but also emphasized Pakistan’s strength, citing players like Abdullah, Babar, Imam, Saud, and Agha.
“Australia boasts good batters, but we are no less. With Abdullah, Babar, Imam, Saud, and Agha in our ranks, we are well-equipped for the challenge,” he stated.
Ahmed highlighted the exceptional skills of players like Shaheen and Hasan, and also mentioned the proven abilities of Mir Hamza, Khurram Shehzad, and Fahim in domestic competitions.
The former captain extended congratulations to Shan Masood for his leadership role in the team and drew inspiration from Chris Gayle’s remarkable 200-run innings against Zimbabwe.
“I remember watching Chris Gayle’s incredible innings of 200 runs against Zimbabwe at Manuka Oval. Now, as we brace ourselves for a four-day clash in Canberra against Australia, the weather seems to be good. This match holds immense significance as it kickstarts the three-match test series against the formidable Australian team,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said.
