Usman Khawaja jumps in to support David Warner.

by: Atika Mehboob TN Sport Pakistan:
Not so long ago, former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson lambasted David Warner. The pacer criticized Warner after he was named in the 14-member squad for the first Test against Pakistan. Johnson argued that Warner didn’t deserve a spot in Test cricket based on his recent performances and also criticized him for not taking ownership of the Sandpaper scandal in 2018.

Nevertheless, Usman Khawaja jumped in to support his opening partner. On Monday, Khawaja told reporters that David and Steve Smith are heroes in his opinion.

“No one’s perfect,” Khawaja added. “Mitchell Johnson isn’t perfect, I’m not perfect, Steven Smith isn’t perfect, David Warner isn’t perfect. What they’ve done for the game from a positive point of view far outweighs anything else they’ve done. So for (Johnson) to imply that Davey Warner or anyone else involved in the sandpaper scandal is not a hero, I strongly disagree with that.”

It should be mentioned here that the Test series against Pakistan will be the last one for the veteran batsman, David Warner.
