Trials for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Team Held at Islamia College for Capital Premier League.

by: TN Media News Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: The trials for the selection of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team for the upcoming Capital Premier League (CPL) were held at the Islamia College ground. Renowned Test cricketer and fast bowler, Imran Khan Sr., oversaw the trials, offering expert guidance to the hopeful players.

A number of key figures from the CPL management were present to witness the event, including CPL President Chaudhry Arshad Bega, CEO Aftab Nayyar Siddiqui, Chairman Munir Ahmed Shad, Director of Cricket Operations Waqar Ahmed, and Director of Sports Ali Hoti.

Over 500 players from across the province participated in the trials, with a notable concentration of fast bowlers and batters among the candidates. The event provided a unique opportunity for emerging cricketers to showcase their skills, with CPL scouts actively seeking fresh talent.

The Capital Premier League, scheduled to begin after Ramadan, will feature eight teams representing all four provinces of Pakistan. These teams include Islamabad Royals, Punjab Premiers, Sindh Strikers, KP Warriors, Kashmir Stars, GB Thunders, and Overseas Pakistanis Ambassadors. Notably, teams from Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Overseas Pakistanis Ambassadors also participated in the selection trials.

Imran Khan Sr. shared his thoughts on the significance of the league, emphasizing that such initiatives create invaluable opportunities for young players. “Leagues like the CPL allow new players to showcase their talents,” he said. “The CPL serves as a platform for grooming young cricketers, and the trial selection process reflects the league’s professional approach.”

CPL President Chaudhry Arshad Bega also expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm displayed by players in Peshawar. “It is wonderful to be in Peshawar, especially at the historic Islamia College,” he said. “The region is rich in natural cricketing talent that only needs the right opportunities and guidance to flourish.”

Bega further mentioned that the people of Peshawar will soon be treated to a special cricket experience. “We are working towards hosting some CPL matches in Peshawar, giving the people here a chance to watch cricket stars live on their home turf,” he added.

The trials in Peshawar marked a significant step towards the development and promotion of cricket in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the region’s potential to produce exceptional cricketing talent.
