“UN 2030 Water Conference” hosted by Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan & Embassy of the Netherlands to Pakistan.

Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, ED, PRCCSF participated as a keynote speaker in the briefing on  “UN 2030 Water Conference” hosted by Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan & Embassy of the Netherlands to Pakistan.

On 13th March 2023, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF) participated as a keynote speaker in the briefing being held for the United Nations 2023 Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Netherlands.

H.E Lianne Houben, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan  discussed Netherlands’ efforts and contributions to help Pakistan during the devastating floods. She also discussed various mechanisms to stimulate cooperation and accelerate the progress to solve problems of water insecurity.

H.E Ismatullu Nasredin, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan discussed the prospects of the UN Water 2023 Conference in strengthening the global water agenda. He suggested plans to improve water management system and emphasized that this is the time to take action for the existing problems related to water as resources are under pressure due to population growth, and economic challenges.

Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram discussed “Tajikistan’s Contribution to Sustainable Water Management Globally”.  He explained the joint ventures on Water management between Pakistan and Tajikistan. He discussed Tajikistan’s efforts in strengthening water governance, sanitation infrastructure development, and environmental protection.

Mr. Hassan Nasir Jamy, Federal Secretary, Minister of Water Resources, Government of Pakistan highlighted the multiple efforts of the water Ministry of Pakistan.  He shared that Pakistan has formulated multiple policies to ensure water security and  sustainability in the country. He also mentioned that delegates from Pakistan are actively involved with global bodies for ensuring a collective approach to the upcoming ‘UN Water Conference’.

Mr. Muqeet Asim Shah, Director of UN Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan extended full support on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Pakistan’s participation in the UN Water Conference.

The briefing was moderated by Ms. Laraib Fatima Hassan, Member Board of Experts, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future,  Islamabad.
