Ambassador Masood Khan Makes First Official Visit to Jamaica’s Capital.

Kingston: In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, embarked on his first official visit to Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. During his visit, Ambassador Khan presented his diplomatic credentials to the Governor-General of Jamaica, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to fostering closer ties with the Caribbean nation.
Ambassador Khan’s engagements included a meeting with Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Kamina Johnson Smith, where they discussed enhancing bilateral trade and cooperation on various platforms such as the United Nations. The discussions also touched upon critical issues like climate change, sea-level concerns, peace, and security.
A highlight of the visit was the announcement that the bilateral cooperation framework agreement between Pakistan and Jamaica is expected to be finalized soon. This framework aims to bolster the partnership between the two countries across multiple sectors.
In recognition of Jamaica’s support for the return of international cricket to Pakistan, Ambassador Khan expressed gratitude towards the efforts made by the Jamaican authorities. He also attended a session of the Jamaican Parliament, listening to the budget speech, which signifies the growing economic collaboration between the two nations.
Furthermore, Ambassador Khan met with the Pakistani community in Jamaica, hosted by the prominent Pakistani figure Tariq Malik. He praised the community’s hard work and talent, which has established a unique identity for Pakistanis in Jamaica. Ambassador Khan encouraged increased investment in Pakistan and urged the community to maintain unity.
