The Pakistan Christian Welfare Society (PCWS) celebrated Easter with great enthusiasm at the Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah on Saturday. The event was marked by joy, unity, and a strong sense of community.
Consul General Khalid Majid Graces the Occasion
Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Khalid Majid, attended the celebration as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Syed Riaz Bukhari, Tasawwer Choudhry, Kamran Butt, Fahad Aziz, Pastor Nadeem Shehzad Taj, Saiman Gil, William, Francis, and Patrick Flick Sher.
In his address, Mr. Majid extended heartfelt Easter greetings to the Christian community and appreciated their contributions to Pakistan’s economic growth. He emphasized the values of hope, compassion, and unity that Easter represents.
“The most important message of Easter is hope,” he said. “One should never despair of Allah’s mercy. After every difficult hour, comes ease. We must always hope for better times.”
Promoting Unity and Brotherhood
The Consul General praised the Christian community’s efforts in promoting peace and universal brotherhood. He highlighted their positive role not only in Pakistan but globally.
He added, “The message of Jesus is eternal. His teachings of love, friendship, and unity must be embraced by all.” Mr. Majid also reminded the attendees to respect local laws and traditions, stating, “The consulate is your home, and we are always here to support you.”
A Warm Welcome from PCWS
Chairman of PCWS, Mr. John Gulzar, welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for attending. He acknowledged the hard work of the organizing committee and praised the support of the Consulate.
Mr. Gulzar also commended Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and expressed gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their inclusive policies and employment opportunities for Pakistanis.
He presented a commemorative shield to Consul General Khalid Majid as a token of appreciation.
Cultural Touch and Community Support
During the event, two young girls, known as the Zara Sisters, presented flowers to Mr. Khalid Majid and his wife. Several guests, including Patrick Flick Sher, Shehzad Taj, William, Francis, Riyaz Bukhari, Tasawwer Chaudhary, Kamran Butt, Fahad Aziz, Fawad Swati, and the author, also addressed the gathering and congratulated the Christian community on Easter.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of harmony, showcasing Pakistan’s diverse culture and the strong bond between communities living abroad.
