Philanthropist Malik Shams Altaf passes away in Pakistan.

Jeddah- Prominent Pakistani community leader, social activist and founding member of the National Solidarity Forum Malik Shams Uddin Altaf, passed away in Pakistan last Saturday.

The Pakistani community in the Western Province mourned the sudden demise of Malik Shams Uddin Altaf, who was on a treatment trip to Pakistan where he died of cardiac arrest on Feb. 11, 2023.

Malik Altaf was well known for his social and philanthropic works. He had a great passion for helping people and provided services to different groups engaged in social welfare activities in the Western Province.

Malik Shamsuddin Altaf was also a great supporter and sympathizer of the Stranded Pakistanis in Bangladesh’s Camps living in a miserable conditions for the last 51 years.

Convener of Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC) Engineer Syed Ihsan-ul-Haq and Deputy Convener Hamid Islam Khan expressed their regret on his death and said that this is unbelievable and sad news for us – may Allah Almighty forgive Malik Shams Uddin Altaf and grant him a place in Jannat al-Firdous. May Allah accept his great services for the Stranded Pakistanis and give him a great reward, Ameen.

Chairman of National Unity Forum Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz Ghumman also said on the death of founding member Malik Shams Altaf that it is very sad that Altaf Malik is no longer in the world.

He had been present in Jeddah for a long time, his ideological affiliation was with the Pakistan People’s Party and he was also an overseas official, frequently visited the Jeddah consulate and was very active in community programs, often providing legal advice to the consulate’s welfare section.

He always gave his opinion and suggestion on labour laws whenever he felt the need for matters. He was proficient in the Arabic language. May Allah grant him a high place in Jannat al-Firdous and forgive him completely.
