PSL-10: United Crush Qalandars by 8 Wickets in Opener

by: TN Media News Pakistan: Defending champions Islamabad United made a strong statement in the opening match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, defeating Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Batting first, Qalandars struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 139 in 19.2 overs. Only Abdullah Shafique stood firm with a gritty 66 off 38 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes. The rest of the batting lineup faltered, with only Sikandar Raza (23) and Daryl Mitchell (13) reaching double figures.

United’s bowlers dominated from the start. Jason Holder was the standout performer, claiming 4 wickets for 26 runs. Captain Shadab Khan chipped in with 3 wickets, while Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah, and Riley Meredith took one each.

In response, United chased down the target with ease. Though debutant Andries Gous fell early, Colin Munro anchored the innings with a brilliant 59* off 42 balls. He was well supported by Salman Ali Agha, who remained unbeaten on 41 off 34.

The duo shared an 80-run partnership to seal the win in 17.4 overs. Haris Rauf and Abbas Afridi took a wicket each for Qalandars.

With this emphatic win, Islamabad United secured two points and moved to the top of the PSL 10 standings, while Qalandars started their campaign with a disappointing defeat.
