PSL 8: Lahore defeated Peshawar and Karachi defeated Multan.

In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Eight, Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 40 runs while Karachi Kings defeated Multan Sultans by a huge margin of 66 runs.

The first match of PSL 8 was played in Karachi on Sunday. Multan Sultans won the toss and invited Karachi Kings to bat first. Playing first, Karachi Kings scored 167 runs for the loss of 3 wickets thanks to Tayyab Tahir’s 65 runs, Matthew Wade played an inning of 46 runs. While James Vance scored 27 runs and captain Imad Wasim scored 14 runs.

For Multan Sultans, Ehsanullah took 2 wickets and Anwar Ali guided a player to the pavilion. When Multan Sultans started batting in pursuit of Karachi Kings’ target of 168, Karachi’s bowlers played a devastating spell and dismissed the rival team for 101 runs in the 17th over.

Tabreez Shamsi of Karachi Kings was declared the best player of the match by taking 3 wickets. Shoaib Malik also took 3 wickets while captain Imad Wasim and Akif Javed dismissed 2 players each.

None of the batsmen of Multan Sultans, who were defeated by Karachi by 66 runs, could bat. Only captain Mohammad Rizwan’s 29 and Shaan Masood’s 25 runs stood out. Except for Anwar Ali 12 and Osama Mir 10 runs, none of the batsmen could enter double figures.

In the second match, Lahore Qalandars won. In the second match played in Lahore, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and batting first scored a huge total of 241 runs for 3 wickets. Qalandar’s batsmen charged Peshawar Zalmi well.

Fakhar Zaman, who won the Man of the Match award, played a smoky inning and scored 96 runs off 45 balls. Abdullah Shafiq also played aggressively and scored 75 runs off 41 balls while Sam Billings scored 47 runs off 23 balls.

Wahab Riaz took 2 wickets and Powell took one wicket for Peshawar Zalmi. In pursuit of Lahore Qalandars’ big target of 242 runs, Peshawar Zalmi could only score 201 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

On behalf of Qalandars, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled well as Shaheen and hunted 5 players of Zalmi. Zaman Khan dismissed 2, and Haris Rauf and Rashid Khan dismissed one each.
