The much-anticipated Shahid Afridi Foundation National Physical Disability T20 Cricket Championship is set to commence today in Karachi, promising thrilling action as teams battle it out on the field. The tournament, organized by the Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF), will witness the participation of teams from Karachi, Quetta, Multan, and Hyderabad, showcasing the talent and resilience of physically challenged cricketers.
Tournament Director, Amiruddin Ansari, announced that the Karachi leg of the SAF National PD T20 Cricket Championship will begin today (Monday) at the Rashid Latif Academy Cricket Ground. Two matches are scheduled for the opening day, with Karachi facing off against Quetta at 9:30 a.m., followed by Hyderabad taking on Multan at 2 p.m.
All preparations for the matches in Karachi have been finalized to ensure a seamless experience for players and spectators alike. Following rigorous trials, the selection committee of the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA) has unveiled the squads for the participating teams.
Leading the Karachi team will be Rao Javed, with notable players including Umar Farooq, Waheed, Arslan Arshad, and Khursheed Ali, among others. Quetta’s Physical Disability Cricket Team will be under the captaincy of Abdullah Khan, with talents like Saifullah Khan, Nizamuddin, and Obaidullah Shah bolstering the squad.
Meanwhile, Multan’s lineup, captained by Muhammad Matloob, boasts skilled players such as Jahanzeb Towana, Majid Hussain, and Muhammad Haris. The Hyderabad team, led by Hamza Saeed, comprises Muhammad Waris, Wasim Samad, and Muhammad Rafiq, promising fierce competition on the pitch.
