Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has officially announced his departure from the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 32-year-old shared his decision on social media after being left out of the recent PSL draft. Shehzad expressed disappointment and hinted that his exclusion was deliberate despite his strong domestic performances.
Ahmed Shehzad’s Disappointment Over PSL Exclusion
Shehzad questioned the fairness of the PSL selection process. He pointed out that players with lesser records were chosen over him. In his message, he promised to reveal the reasons behind his exclusion soon, creating anticipation among fans and the cricket community.
He wrote, “A heartfelt goodbye to Pakistan Super League! I thought I wouldn’t be writing this note this year. Another PSL draft goes by, and the same old story – didn’t get picked. God knows why! But they plan, and Allah plans. Indeed, ALLAH is the best of Planners.”
Commitment to Self-Respect and Pakistani Cricket
Shehzad clarified that his decision is rooted in self-respect and dedication to the game, not financial reasons. He revealed turning down offers from international leagues to focus on Pakistan’s domestic cricket and prove his commitment.
He said, “I’m parting ways and saying goodbye to Pakistan Super League for my own self-respect. I’ve never played for money and will never do it.” Shehzad also announced he will not return to PSL with its current six-team structure.
Gratitude and Resolve to Uphold Principles
Expressing thanks to his fans worldwide, Shehzad assured he will continue standing firm on his values. He highlighted the challenges of prioritizing patriotism in modern times and vowed to maintain his moral stance.
