“Revolutionizing the Haj Experience: Government Digitizes Operations with Cutting-edge Mobile App”
In a groundbreaking move, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications has unveiled a state-of-the-art mobile app designed to streamline and digitalize Haj operations for pilgrims. The initiative, developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), marks a significant leap toward modernizing the pilgrimage experience.
The app launch ceremony, attended by caretaker Minister for IT Dr Umar Saif and interim Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed, showcased the collaborative effort to enhance the efficiency and convenience of the Haj process. According to a statement from the information ministry, the mobile app aims to provide a comprehensive digital platform for pilgrims participating in Haj 2024, scheduled for mid-June next year.
During the event, Dr Umar Saif highlighted the acceleration of digitization in the country under the guidance of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), and he characterized the launch of the Haj app as a significant milestone in this transformative journey.
Key features of the application include a user-friendly registration process facilitated by a one-time password (OTP) sent via SMS. Pilgrims will receive a unique ID comprising their CNIC and application number. The app enables users to view and update personal information, check the real-time status of their Haj application, and access a wealth of details such as group information, training schedules, flight details, and accommodations in Makkah and Madina.
Dr Saif emphasized that the app facilitates a centralized platform for pilgrims, offering multilingual support in English and Urdu. Pilgrims can submit complaints, requests, and inquiries through the app, fostering efficient communication.
Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed commended the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of IT and NITB, emphasizing the need to modernize existing systems related to Haj operations. The app, he stated, is a pivotal step toward adopting technology in day-to-day affairs and will digitize the entire Haj process for the year 2024.
The mobile app, designed with the pilgrims’ experience in mind, aims to serve as a centralized and user-friendly solution. It not only provides access to essential information but also ensures seamless communication with the ministry, contributing to real-time data synchronization. As the Haj app becomes a central component of the pilgrimage journey, it reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of essential services and experiences for its citizens.*
