There is so much drama going on the Women World Cup 2022 as the only Asian team that can qualify for the semi-final is India but it is not an easy ride for them after West Indies got the extra point to slip to the fifth place in the points table. England beat Pakistan by 9 wickets to improve their NRR 0.778 and are on 6 points with India on 6 points but with NRR 0.768.
South Africa after getting a point against West Indies for wash-out which secured the second spot for them in points table after Australia to qualify for the semi-finals.
India equation is simple now, they need to beat South Africa on Sunday (27th March) and this will take them to 8 points ahead of West Indies and even if England beat Bangladesh on Sunday in their final game, India will qualify for the semi-final in the 4th position.
If India lose from South Africa that would mean they will need to pray that England lose by a huge margin to Bangladesh to win over the NRR but that would be very difficult as England is in good form.
The best bet is to win from South Africa to secure the place otherwise the dependence on “IF” will only increase the blood pressure without having to get the place in the semi-finals which will keep the NRR out of calculations.
