by: TN Media News Pakistan: Arshad Nadeem made history on Saturday by winning the gold medal in the javelin throw at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, ending Pakistan’s 50-year wait for a top podium finish at the prestigious event.
Nadeem’s winning throw of 86.40 meters outclassed India’s Sachin Yadav (85.16m) and Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama (83.75m), earning Pakistan its first Asian Athletics gold since 1973. The last golds came through Allah Dada (javelin) and Muhammad Younis (800m) in Marikina, Philippines.
This latest triumph adds to Nadeem’s stellar career, which includes a historic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he set a new Olympic record with a 92.97-meter throw — making him Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medalist.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Nadeem on his continued success, hailing him as a national hero whose achievements are raising Pakistan’s profile in global athletics.
