Inquiry Launched Into Irregular Appointments at NICVD.

Karachi, March 25, 2025: Sindh’s Minister for Health, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, has ordered an inquiry into allegations of corruption and nepotism at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD). The inquiry follows reports of irregular appointments within the institution, prompting concerns about the integrity of its leadership.

Sources indicate that a plumber was promoted to the position of Administrator, while a contractual employee was made the Chief Operating Officer (COO), raising eyebrows regarding the fairness and transparency of these appointments.

The irregularities were uncovered in NICVD’s recent audit report, leading to an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Department. A special investigation team has been set up to ensure transparency in the probe.

During a visit to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), Dr. Pechuho also inaugurated 20 new dental chair units, a step aimed at enhancing medical education and healthcare services. She reaffirmed her commitment to tackling corruption in public institutions and emphasized that those responsible for such appointments at NICVD would face strict action.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the inquiry progresses.
