OIC and Pakistan Mission Observe Kashmir Solidarity Day with Special Event and Photo Exhibition

Report by Noorulhassan Gujjar: High-Level Observance in Jeddah. The Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the OIC organized a special event and photo exhibition on Kashmir Solidarity Day at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah. The gathering was attended by a diverse group of dignitaries, including:

  • OIC Secretary-General H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha (chief guest)

  • Ambassador Yousef Al Dobeiye, OIC Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir

  • Assistant Secretaries General of the OIC

  • Permanent Representatives of OIC Member States

  • Diplomats and members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities

  • Media and members of the Kashmir Committee Jeddah

Pakistan’s Continued Diplomatic Support: In his opening address, Ambassador Syed Mohammad Fawad Sher, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, thanked the OIC leadership for its enduring support. He emphasized that February 5 is a day for reaffirming Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic backing for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as enshrined in UN and OIC resolutions.

Ambassador Sher also drew a parallel between the struggles of Palestinians and Kashmiris, both facing prolonged occupation and human rights abuses. He acknowledged the OIC’s principled stance on Kashmir and encouraged the organization to amplify international awareness.

OIC Reaffirms Commitment to Kashmir: 

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, in his keynote speech, reiterated the OIC’s categorical support for the Kashmir cause. He affirmed that the organization would continue its efforts through several mechanisms, including:

  • The OIC Special Envoy on Jammu and Kashmir

  • The OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir

  • The IPHRC’s monitoring body for human rights in Indian-administered Kashmir (IIOJK)

He emphasized the need to hold India accountable for its actions and to support Kashmiris’ legitimate aspirations.

Voices from the Community

Ambassador Yousef Al Dobeiye reaffirmed the OIC’s unwavering commitment to the right of self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Masood Puri, Chairman of the Kashmir Committee Jeddah, condemned the rising human rights violations in Kashmir and urged global attention to India’s repressive actions.

In the concluding remarks, Consul General Khalid Majid reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm and enduring support for the Kashmiri cause.
