LG Electronics has taken a significant step towards local manufacturing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by introducing the production of its Air Solution product, the MULTI V 5, at the LG-Shaker factory in Riyadh. This move underscores LG’s commitment to the Saudi market and aligns with the country’s Vision 2030, which aims to develop key sectors including infrastructure.
The MULTI V 5 is a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system known for its energy efficiency and suitability for modern infrastructure needs. It is particularly popular in the region for its ability to provide comfortable air conditioning while sensing temperature and humidity simultaneously. The model’s innovative features, such as the ability to connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit, make it ideal for high-rise buildings, hospitality, and mega projects.
The LG-Shaker factory, established in 2008 through a partnership between LG Electronics and Al Hassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker Co. (Shaker), is a leading manufacturer and distributor of air conditioners and home appliances in Saudi Arabia. The factory not only manufactures air conditioners for the local market but also exports them to 30 countries worldwide. It is one of 11 global factories producing high-quality LG air conditioners.
The factory’s adoption of cutting-edge automation technology, including industrial robots and artificial intelligence, has led to increased output and efficiency. This has enabled the production of locally sourced components, reducing production costs and enhancing competitiveness in the Saudi AC market. The factory has played a crucial role in supporting mega projects in Saudi Arabia, including commercial developments, schools, and the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center.
LG’s commitment to local manufacturing is further demonstrated by its partnership with the Mecca Mina project, providing 7500 tons of air conditioning for the holy camp sites. This initiative showcases the factory’s production capability and commitment to supporting significant infrastructure projects with advanced cooling solutions.
LG also recently opened its factory doors to the media, showcasing its state-of-the-art technology. LGE MEA CEO, Mr. Ilhwan Lee, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing the best to its customers and shareholders.
Mohammed Ibrahim Abunayyan, Chief Executive Officer of Shaker Group, highlighted the partnership’s significance in enhancing local manufacturing capabilities and aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals. He emphasized the production of cutting-edge Saudi-made technologies to deliver quality, reliability, and eco-friendliness.
LG’s investment in local manufacturing in Saudi Arabia reflects its commitment to the region’s growth and development, supporting sustainable innovation and prosperity.
