PM Inaugurates Renovated Gaddafi Stadium Ahead of Champions Trophy.

by: TN Media News Lahore Pakistan: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, just days before the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The event marked a significant milestone in the stadium’s 65-year history.

PM Sharif praised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and contractors for completing the renovation in a record 117 days. He also commended the workers and suggested a trip to London as a reward for their efforts.

Addressing the ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in the Pakistan cricket team, hoping they would win the Champions Trophy and especially defeat arch-rivals India. He also highlighted the historic return of the tournament to Pakistan after 29 years, with the Punjab government and PCB ensuring top-notch security.

The opening ceremony featured musical performances by Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar, and Aima Baig, followed by a stunning drum and fireworks display. The event also showcased a light show and unveiled the Pakistan cricket team’s official jersey for the tournament.

Gaddafi Stadium has undergone significant upgrades, including brighter LED lights, two large score screens, imported seating, and 10,000 additional seats. The venue now offers enhanced facilities, including newly built hospitality boxes and improved amenities for players and fans.

The stadium will host New Zealand in the opening match of the tri-nation series on February 8 and will be the venue for four Champions Trophy matches, including the second semi-final.
