The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has elevated the status of Test captain Shan Masood in the central contract list from category D to B. This decision aligns with the board’s policy, stipulating that if a centrally contracted player below category A or B is appointed captain, their contract is upgraded to category B for the duration of their captaincy.
Shan Masood, 34 years old, assumed the role of Test captain on November 15, 2023, until the conclusion of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. With 30 Test matches under his belt and 1,597 runs to his name, the left-handed batter is set to lead Pakistan in his inaugural captaincy assignment during the upcoming three-match series against Australia starting on December 14.
