The AKG Premier League Season 2 Cricket Tournament continued its exciting run on Thursday with two thrilling matches at the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground. Both Storm Warriors and Aziz Damani teams recorded their second consecutive victories, showcasing skillful performances and strong team coordination.
Storm Warriors Outplay United Friends
In the fifth match, Storm Warriors defeated United Friends by 7 wickets. Batting first, United Friends posted 127/7 in their 20 overs. Captain Murtaza Majid led the innings with 41 runs off 39 balls, supported by Syed Ahsan Ullah (22) and Mohammad Ali (20).
Storm Warriors’ bowlers were disciplined, with Mohammad Shoaib, Rahim Ali, and Shayan Ali each taking two wickets.
In response, Storm Warriors chased down the 128-run target in 18.4 overs. Naseeb Noor Ali delivered a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 60 off 55 balls, including six boundaries. Amir Hayat added a valuable 44 off 46 balls, striking two fours and two sixes. Despite Syed Ahsan Ullah claiming two wickets, United Friends couldn’t hold off the Warriors.
Aziz Damani Overcome Super King’s:
The sixth match saw Aziz Damani beat Super King’s by 5 wickets. Super King’s were bowled out for 128 in 19.3 overs. Captain Saleem Abdul Rahim top-scored with 36, while Ali Zain Ijaz and Khurram Shezad chipped in with 23 and 17 runs, respectively.
Aziz Damani’s skipper, Mir Afzal Baig, was outstanding with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 21 runs with his off-spin. Adil Rehmat, Hussain Abdul Mohammed, and Nabeel Ahmed each took one wicket.
Chasing 129, Aziz Damani reached the target in 17.5 overs. Naveed Ali led the batting with a fluent 46 off 35 balls, hitting 7 fours. Irfan Rehmat added 37 off 38 balls, while Irfan Ali and Adil Rehman made 16 and 12 runs, respectively.
Player of the Match Awards:
Chief Guest Nizar Khan, Owner of I-Bax, presented the Player of the Match award to Naseeb Noor Ali for his unbeaten 60 and two fine catches. Meanwhile, AKG Member Munir Samani awarded Mir Afzal Baig for his brilliant 4-wicket haul.
