The Consulate General of Pakistan in Toronto held the first-ever “Hunarmand” exhibition during Eid celebrations, shining a spotlight on Pakistan’s rich artistic traditions. The event, organized by Identity Pakistan, drew a strong turnout from the local Pakistani community and highlighted the country’s vibrant handmade arts and crafts.
Inauguration and Praise from Officials: The exhibition was officially inaugurated by Khalil Ahmad Bajwa, Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto. He praised Identity Pakistan and its co-founders, Solmaz Regi and Adnan Haider, for their efforts. “This exhibition has been outstanding,” said Bajwa. “We aim to organize an even larger one in the future.” He described it as a powerful way to connect the Pakistani diaspora with their cultural roots.
Trade Commissioner Altamash Janjua also commended the organizers for their vision in promoting Pakistani culture abroad.
A Platform for Cultural Expression: Solmaz Regi emphasized that the goal of Identity Pakistan is to showcase Pakistani craftsmanship globally. The exhibition featured puppets, leather goods, embroidered clothing, and other traditional artisan products. “We want to highlight the work of those who cannot travel internationally but have incredible talent,” said Regi.
A documentary film produced by Identity Pakistan was also screened, sharing the stories of local artisans from across the country.
Strong Community Support and Future Plans: The event received enthusiastic support from the community, with visitors appreciating the intricate workmanship on display. Organizers confirmed that “Hunarmand” will continue as a series, with plans already underway for future exhibitions.
This inaugural event marked a meaningful step in promoting Pakistan’s cultural identity and empowering artisans through international exposure.
