by: TN Media News: The Teachers, Officers, and Employees Welfare Associations of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) held a joint meeting to express full solidarity with a female faculty member who has allegedly faced harassment. The meeting reaffirmed a collective commitment to institutional integrity, justice, and adherence to due process.
Asif Hussain Samo, President of the Teachers Association (SMUTA), stated that the leadership is deeply concerned about media reports highlighting delays in the investigation and emphasized that justice must not be obstructed. The associations unanimously demanded swift action and seriousness in addressing harassment allegations, particularly against female faculty.
Abdul Waheed Jatoi, General Secretary of the Officers Association (SMIUOA), expressed full confidence in the university’s investigative committees but urged prompt implementation of their recommendations. He warned that any political interference or delay in justice could harm the institution’s reputation and progress.
The meeting strongly condemned attempts to defame the university and mislead the public, asserting that such issues must be resolved within the framework of law and ethics.
Also present were Zeeshan Bajwa, General Secretary of the Employees Welfare Association (SMIUEWA); Mushtaq Muhammad (SMIUOA); and Wafa Mansoor Bado (SMUTA), among others. The leadership warned that shielding perpetrators of harassment or corruption has historically led to the decline of institutions, and SMIU must remain committed to transparency and justice.
