The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation deleted citizens’ complaints in the comment section on KWSC’s social media page and also removed the comment section.

by: Abdul Rahim Khan Ghouri:
A citizen appealed for sewer covers for the open manholes in North Karachi Sector 5E. There is an urgent need for 40 to 50 sewer covers in North Karachi Sector 5E. Ramadan has passed, Eid-ul-Fitr has come, but the sewer covers did not arrive for the XEN officer of North Karachi from KWSB/KWSC, citizens.

Karachi: On the new social media page of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, a resident of North Karachi Sector 5E commented after seeing videos and pictures of the situation on KWSC’s Social Media New Page, requesting the manholes to be covered. As a result, the comment section was removed from the new social media page of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, and the comments of the residents were also deleted.

According to details, the resident stated that currently, there are 40 to 50 open manholes in Sector 5E, North Karachi, and despite the arrival of Eid, neither the XEN officer of North Karachi nor the Chairman of UC-8 Faisal has taken any action regarding the uncovered manholes. The resident stated that this is a questionable indication of the performance of the CEO of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board.

Along with the broken manholes in Sector 5E, North Karachi, the lids of the manholes are also missing. Incidents are increasing rapidly in Karachi city, with an increase in the number of deaths and injuries among citizens. Just like in various areas of Karachi city, where manhole covers are not being provided, similarly, in Sector 5E, North Karachi, almost 40 to 50 manhole covers are open. The resident questioned the CEO of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board, asking whether the newly created social media page is meant to showcase achievements using Water Bills/Taxpayers’ money or whether it is created to listen to the problems of the people, document them, and take timely action to address them, and to reach your department.

The resident of North Karachi expressed surprise at the sudden disappearance of the comment section on the social media page, stating that it is a dubious indication for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and its CEO. It should be noted that in 2020, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board had also submerged Sector 5E, North Karachi, in dirty water/Sewerage, a problem that was highlighted by the journalistic Media Houses and journalists of Karachi city, and the sewerage system was corrected, and timely cleaning of the manholes was also done.
