Muhammad Nizam Karachi (Sports Reporter): The much-anticipated drafting ceremony of the Khatri Premier League (KPL) Season 3 Floodlight Cricket 2025, organized by the Muslim Khatri community, is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, June 10 at 9:00 PM at Zareeta Hall, Sector 11-A, North Karachi.
According to Tournament Secretary Mohammad Sadiq Khatri, this season promises to be more exciting with the inclusion of two new franchise teams — Dhandae Fighters and Wada Hunters — joining the existing line-up, bringing the total number of competing teams to seven. The defending champions, Tungar Stars, will be looking to retain their title.
The chief guest for the evening will be Test cricketer Fawad Alam, while Azam Khan, manager of Quetta Gladiators, and internationally renowned Naat Khwan Al-Haaj Mehmood-ul-Hasan Ashrafi will be the guests of honour. The event will be hosted by prominent TV anchor Naseem Rajput.
Also expected to attend are current and former national cricketers, respected members of the Muslim Khatri community, notable public figures, and members of the media, making it a vibrant and high-profile gathering.
In a significant development this year, a new player category called “Titanium” has been introduced, featuring seven top-tier players, with each franchise entitled to pick one from this elite pool. Additionally, franchises will select two players from the Platinum category, and three players each from Diamond, Gold, and Silver categories.
Sadiq Khatri emphasized that this year’s draft includes a large number of new and talented players from the Muslim Khatri community — a positive sign for the league’s future and the community’s growing involvement in the sport.
The drafting ceremony will be streamed live on the official Khatri Premier League YouTube channel, allowing cricket enthusiasts and community members from around the world to witness the excitement unfold in real time.
