Junaid Zia Lauds Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Team’s Performance and Passion Ahead of Champions Trophy

Muhammad Nizam (Sport Reporter) Karachi – Junaid Zia, General Manager Domestic of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Tuesday expressed his best wishes for the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Team ahead of the Physical Disability Champions Trophy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, starting January 12. Speaking at the ongoing training camp of the team at Rashid Latif Academy in Gulberg, Zia praised the team’s incredible performance and enthusiasm.

“The passion and performance of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Team is truly incredible and amazing. I am learning a lot from each of you PD cricketers,” Zia said. “None of you may have a hand or a leg, but you have raised the green crescent flag of Pakistan all over the world, undeterred by your challenges.” He commended the team’s dedication and determination, underscoring how they have inspired others by competing at the highest levels of cricket.

Zia also took the opportunity to thank the General Secretary of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA), Amiruddin Ansari, for inviting him to the event and expressed his happiness to be among the PD cricketers. He acknowledged the significant role played by the PPDCA in introducing physical disability cricket to the global stage and assured the team that the PCB’s support would continue in the future.

“Introducing Physical Disability Cricket to the world is an achievement of the PPDCA, and we are proud to stand by you,” Zia stated. “The PCB will continue its support for the growth of this sport.”

The Pakistani PD team, supported by top-class coaches Sabih Azhar, Rafi Hashmi, and Rao Javed, is poised to make a strong impact at the Champions Trophy. Zia expressed confidence that, with their guidance, the national team would perform admirably and bring home the trophy.

Amiruddin Ansari, General Secretary of the PPDCA, thanked Junaid Zia for his visit and highlighted that disability cricket has become a prominent product of Pakistan worldwide. He called for the PCB to take full credit for promoting the sport, similar to cricket boards in England, India, and other countries, to help the national team achieve even greater success and raise Pakistan’s flag even higher on the global stage.

The event was attended by Head Coach PCB Iqbal Imam, Coach Asim Rizvi, Sadiq Khatri, and Media Manager Muhammad Nizam, who were also present to show support for the team’s preparation ahead of the upcoming tournament.

With the backing of the PCB and the remarkable dedication of the players and coaches, the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Team is ready to make its mark on the world stage at the Champions Trophy.
