by: Mohammad Nizam TN Sports Karachi: Pakistan’s national Physical Disability (PD) cricket team has brought home a prestigious honor from the 2025 PD Champions Trophy held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Waqif Shah has been named the Best Bowler of the tournament, securing an impressive 12 wickets.
The four-nation competition saw Pakistan’s PD team dominate, with players contributing across various departments of the game. Waqif Shah’s performance with the ball was particularly outstanding, as he led the bowling charts with his exceptional skills.
Another notable performance came from Saifullah Achakzai, who emerged as the second top scorer in the tournament with 216 runs, including several powerful sixes. Meanwhile, Ghulam Muhammad earned recognition as the ‘Man of the Match’ twice, thanks to his brilliant combination of batting power and bowling precision.
Pakistan’s entire team, including Muhammad Noman and captain Abdullah Ijaz, played a pivotal role in securing the victory, with each member contributing significantly in their respective roles.
Speaking about his recognition, Waqif Shah expressed his gratitude, attributing his success to the blessings of Allah and the unwavering support from the team management. He thanked General Secretary Amiruddin Ansari, Head Coach Sabih Azhar, Coaches Rafa Hashmi and Rao Javed, Video Analyst Shakir Khilji, Media Manager Mohammad Nizam, and his teammates, particularly Captain Abdullah Ijaz, for their trust and encouragement. “Their confidence in me helped me deliver a great performance, and I promise to continue giving my best for Pakistan,” he said.
The team’s success has been hailed by PPDCA President Imran Balwani and General Secretary Amiruddin Ansari, who congratulated Waqif Shah on his achievement and praised the collective effort of the team. “The performance of Waqif, Saifullah, Ghulam Muhammad, and the entire squad is a testament to their dedication and talent,” Balwani said. “We are confident that the future of Pakistan PD cricket is bright, and these players will continue to raise Pakistan’s flag on the international stage.”
