Pakistan Team Can Win Physical Disability Champions Trophy, Says Former Captain Moin Khan

Muhammad Nizam Karachi: (Sports Reporter) The Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Team, preparing for the upcoming Four-Nation Physical Disability Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka, held a practice match at the Moin Khan Cricket Academy. The team had the opportunity to meet former national cricket captain Moin Khan, who shared his motivating thoughts with the players. Also present at the event were Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association President Imran Balwani, General Secretary Amiruddin Ansari, Head Coach Sabih Azhar, and other officials including Rafey Hashmi, Rao Javed, and Muhammad Nizam.

During his address to the players, Moin Khan emphasized the importance of mental strength in sports. “Mental resilience is the most important aspect of the game,” he said. “The way I saw physically disabled players perform today was inspiring. You all have immense talent, and if you harness it correctly, there is no reason why you can’t win the Physical Disability Champions Trophy for Pakistan.”

Moin Khan also stressed the importance of teamwork and mutual support, adding, “Success in cricket, like any sport, comes through teamwork. Always support one another, even when performances aren’t up to par. Big teams thrive because they lift each other up, especially during challenging times.”

The Four-Nation Physical Disability Champions Trophy is set to begin on January 12th in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the host nation, Sri Lanka, along with teams from Pakistan, India, and England, participating. The Pakistan team will depart for Sri Lanka via Qatar on January 10th. Their first match, a highly anticipated encounter against arch-rivals India, is scheduled for January 12th. The tournament’s final will take place on January 21st.

Before leaving for Sri Lanka, the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Team played a practice match against the Moin Khan Cricket Academy, securing an impressive 88-run victory. Batting first, the Pakistan team scored 214 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Huzaifa (52), Noman (51), and Ghulam (28) were the standout performers with the bat. Abdullah from Moin Khan Cricket Academy took 2 wickets in the match.

In reply, Moin Khan Cricket Academy’s team was dismissed for 126 runs in the final over. Umair was the leading scorer for the academy with 41 runs. For the Pakistan team, Shahid Wattoo and Basit claimed 3 wickets each, while Wasim Shah picked up 2 wickets.

With the Physical Disability Champions Trophy just around the corner, the Pakistan team looks ready to make a strong impression in Sri Lanka, backed by the encouraging words of Moin Khan and the support of their officials and fans.
